How much does AI cost a UAE SME per month? A worked AED example: seats at 73 to 92 AED each, an AI receptionist at 600 to 900 AED, tokens and hidden costs.
A small UAE team can run useful AI for roughly 1,050 to 1,400 AED a month: about 73 to 92 AED per chat seat, 600 to 900 AED for an AI receptionist, and a small messaging budget. The number goes up with seats, calls and messages, not with how clever the model is. Below is the worked example, line by line.

The seat figures are the $20 annual and $25 monthly standard rates reported by eWeek, and the $100 annual and $125 monthly premium rates. Some roundups report different numbers and vendors change plans often, so read the vendor's current page before you pay.
A token is a small piece of text, often a word or part of a word. Models read tokens in and write tokens out, and APIs bill per million of each. Output usually costs more than input. I am not quoting per-token prices because they change often and differ by model. Check the vendor pages directly: Anthropic, OpenAI and Google.
Why tokens matter to you:
Ask any vendor one question: "If my volume doubles, what happens to my bill?" A clear answer is a good sign.
Take an illustrative clinic-style business: 8 staff, a front desk, and a WhatsApp number patients message. Four people use a chat assistant for drafting, summarising and translating. The business adds an AI receptionist for calls and sends appointment reminders on WhatsApp.

I put WhatsApp at 150 AED as a planning placeholder, not a rate. Meta bills per message by category and the recipient's country, and since 1 April 2026 offers billing in AED, per the Meta pricing page. Service replies inside the 24-hour window are free there. Pull the real AED rate card before you budget.
First-year cost for this example, using the midpoints: about 1,230 AED a month x 12 is roughly 14,800 AED, plus about 3,500 AED setup, so around 18,300 AED. The comparison point: a human receptionist averages about 3,500 to 4,000 AED a month in salary alone, per GulfTalent, or roughly 42,000 to 48,000 AED a year. The AI does not replace that person, but it shows the scale: the whole AI stack costs less than one salary.
It depends on who does the work.
A seat nobody opens is a pure cost. Before you add a fifth seat, check whether the first four were used last month. Most platforms show usage in the admin panel.
