Vibe coding means telling an AI what you want in plain language and letting it write the software, and a first working prototype can cost you about 73 to 92 AED a month in tool subscriptions. It is real, it is useful, and it has limits that matter the moment money, logins or customer data are involved.
I run ForgeApp, a one-person AI-native app studio in Dubai, and I also teach people to do this themselves, so I am not here to scare you off. This guide explains the tools in plain words, what each costs in AED, and the honest line where you still need a builder. Prices are linked to their sources.
What is vibe coding?#
Vibe coding is building software by describing it to an AI rather than writing the code line by line. Andrej Karpathy coined the phrase in early 2025, and Collins Dictionary named it Word of the Year for 2025, defining it as using AI prompted by natural language to assist with writing code. In practice you type "a booking page for my salon with three services and WhatsApp confirmation", the tool produces a working version, and you keep adjusting it by chatting.
The word "vibe" is the honest part. You steer by feel and by looking at the result, and you often do not read the code. That is fine for a prototype. It is a risk for anything customers rely on.
What is the difference between Lovable, Cursor and Claude Code?#
They sit at three different distances from the code.
| Tool | Who it suits | How you use it | Entry price (US$/month) | Roughly in AED |
|---|
| Lovable | Non-coders | Chat in a browser, app appears and runs | Pro about 25 | ~92 |
| Cursor | People who can read code | An editor with AI built in | Pro about 20 | ~73 |
| Claude Code | Developers and tech-comfortable founders | An agent that works inside a code project | Included with Claude Pro, about 20 (Max 100 or 200) | ~73 (Max ~367 or ~735) |
Prices come from the roundups at Superblocks on Lovable, Paralect and Morph on Claude Code, converted at the 3.6725 dirham peg (The National). Roundups disagree at the edges, and plans change often, so check the vendor's page before you buy.
My plain-language summary:
- Lovable is the easiest start. You get a working app quickly and you do not need to understand how it is built.
- Cursor gives you more control, but you will be looking at code, so it suits someone willing to learn.
- Claude Code is the most powerful of the three and the least beginner-friendly. It works best in the hands of someone who can judge what it produces.
Can a business owner really build an app with vibe coding?#
For some things, yes. These tend to work well:
- A landing page or a simple internal tool, such as a staff rota or a quote calculator
- A prototype to show customers or investors before you spend 18,000 AED
- A dashboard on top of a spreadsheet you already maintain
- A small automation for your own team
If the real question is "will anyone sign up for this?", the lowest rung of the ForgeApp ladder is the Validator: 6,000 AED (list 12,000), a landing page with basic login and a waitlist in 3 days. You can compare it with a full build in what an MVP costs in Dubai.
When does vibe coding break down?#
Not in the demo. It breaks on the second week, when real use begins. These are the places I see the line:
- Payments. Taking cards means a payment gateway, webhooks and refunds that fail in odd ways. Get a developer to review it. If you are choosing a gateway, see Stripe vs Ziina vs Telr vs Tap vs Mamo.
- Logins and customer data. Who can see whose records? A tool can build a login screen that looks right and still lets one customer open another's data. That is a security question, not a design question.
- Regulated data. Health, financial and personal data have legal rules. See the UAE PDPL checklist before you put real customer records into any AI-built app.
- Maintenance. Who fixes it when a package updates or a form stops working? An app with no owner decays.
- Scale. Ten users and ten thousand users are different engineering problems.
- Lock-in. If the app lives only inside one tool's workspace, you cannot move it. Make sure there is a code repository you own.
None of these means "do not vibe code". They mean "know which stage you are at".
How much does vibe coding really cost?#
Subscriptions are the small number. Plan on roughly one tool at 73 to 92 AED a month to start, and you may pay for credits or a higher tier if you build heavily. Lovable's Pro plan, for example, includes a monthly credit allowance that heavy building can exhaust.
The real cost is your hours. If you value your time at even 150 AED an hour, twenty hours of fiddling is 3,000 AED. I am not pricing your time for you, but I would count it before comparing against a fixed-price build.
For people who want to learn the craft with a guide, I run vibe-coding onboarding at 299 AED per hour. A session is concrete: a Lovable and Supabase workspace set up on your own accounts, your first screens built live, a repository you own, and a written next-steps list. It is not a course. It is a head start, and you leave owning everything.
Should I vibe code it myself or hire a builder?#
A decision rule I use:
- Vibe code it yourself if it is for your own team, holds no sensitive data, and you can live with it breaking for a day.
- Vibe code a prototype, then hire a builder if it will take payments or hold customer data. The prototype makes your brief sharper, and a sharper brief is cheaper. See how to write a brief that gets a fixed price.
- Hire a builder from the start if you have deadlines, regulation or customers who will blame you when it fails.
When you do hire, every ForgeApp build comes with the Day-1 Blueprint included: scope, estimate and risks on day one, and a full deposit refund if you reject it. A 7-Day MVP is 18,000 AED (list 28,000).
What should I check on an AI-built app before I launch it?#
A short checklist you can run without reading code:
- Can a logged-out visitor open a page they should not? Try the direct links.
- Can customer A see customer B's data? Create two test accounts and try.
- Where does the data live, and who owns the account?
- Is there a code repository you own and can hand to another developer?
- Does it fail safely? Submit an empty form and a very long text.
- Is there a way to back up and restore the data?
- Who is on call when it breaks?
If you cannot answer two of these, pay for a review before launch.
Questions#
What is vibe coding?#
Vibe coding means describing what you want in plain language and letting an AI tool write the code. Collins Dictionary named it its Word of the Year for 2025 and defines it as using AI prompted by natural language to assist with writing computer code.
Can I build my business app with Lovable?#
For a prototype, an internal tool or a simple customer-facing page, often yes. Lovable's Pro plan is about 25 US dollars (roughly 92 AED) a month. For payments, logins with sensitive data or anything regulated, you should have an experienced developer review it first.
What is the difference between Lovable, Cursor and Claude Code?#
Lovable builds an app from a chat in your browser and suits non-coders. Cursor is a code editor with AI built in, aimed at people who read code. Claude Code is a coding agent that works in a developer's project, included with Claude Pro and Max plans.
How much does vibe coding cost per month?#
Entry plans run about 20 to 25 US dollars per tool per month, which is roughly 73 to 92 AED. Heavy users move to plans of 100 to 200 US dollars. The bigger cost is your time: expect to spend many hours learning and fixing.
When do I still need a developer or agency?#
When the app takes payments, stores sensitive customer data, has to meet regulations, needs to scale beyond a handful of users, or when nobody on your team will maintain it. A short vibe-coding onboarding session, 299 AED an hour with ForgeApp, can get you started safely.

Tool prices were checked in October 2026 from public roundups and change often. Confirm on each vendor's page.
